Traumatic Brain Injury and Concussion Workshop for Educators

Lane Regional Programs, in collaboration with The Center on Brain Injury Research and Training (CBIRT), are proud to offer this training event.
Target Audience: Regional TBI team members, school psychologist, school nurses, school counselors, administrators or other professionals who function as a "TBI-resource" in component school districts.
We are proud to host respected speakers Deborah Ettel and Melissa McCart for this full day event.
TBI 101 8:30-12:00: Dr. Deborah Ettel, Pediatric Brain Injury Consultant, will provide practical information about concussion injury and traumatic brain injury, including recommended assessment components, specific tests and procedures, as well as state requirements for eligibility. Example cases and/or participants' actual (de-identified) cases will be discussed for hands-on training. Participants will receive electronic resources, including charts, testing guidelines, sample reports, and educational materials that may be used immediately.
CBIRT-Professional Resources 1:00-3:00: Melissa McCart, D.Ed. from the University of Oregon's CBIRT, will explain and demonstrate how to navigate and find professional resources on the new CBIRT website and the In the Classroom tool. District TBI representatives will be asked to provide input about district needs and current services.

There is no charge to participants from Lane County. Teams are encouraged to bring a lunch and join us for discussions.
